Dodgers reinstate Josh Beckett, option Paco Rodriguez

The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated right-handed pitcher Josh Beckett from the 15-day disabled list (left hip impingement) and optioned left-handed reliever Paco Rodriguez to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Beckett, who last pitched on July 6 at Colorado, returns to make his 18th start of the season tonight in Pittsburgh. On the season, the 14-year veteran ranks fourth among National League pitchers in ERA (2.26) and opponents' batting average (.203). On May 25 at Philadelphia, Beckett turned in the 21st no-hitter in franchise history and the first of two this season by a Dodger, becoming the eighth player to be selected as a World Series MVP and throw a no-hitter in baseball history.

Rodriguez, who was recalled on Friday and fired back-to-back scoreless appearances on Friday and Saturday (1.1 IP), has appeared in 12 games for Los Angeles this season.
