Indians name Lake County OF Clint Frazier Minor League player of the week

The Cleveland Indians today announced that Single-A Lake County OF CLINT FRAZIER has been named Indians Minor League Player of the Week for the period of July 14-20. The Indians Player of the Week Award recognizes an individual performance from within the Indians Player Development System and is announced each week through the end of the Minor League season.

Frazier, 20, hit .444 (20-45) over a recent 11-game hit streak dating back to July 6, collecting 4 home runs, a pair of doubles, one triple and 11 RBI over that span - his 1.310 OPS (.510 OBP/.800 SLG) ranked 2nd across all levels of Single-A. Cleveland's first round selection (5th overall) in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft, Frazier is batting .352 (25-71) through his first 18 games in the month of July to raise his batting average on the season 23 points from .243 to .266. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound outfielder enjoyed a 5-hit effort in a 14-3 Lake County win vs. Great Lakes on July 11, notching his first career multi-homer game and finishing with 4 runs scored.

Frazier was the first high school position player selected in the 2013 draft after batting .485 with 17 home runs, 45 RBI, 56 runs scored and a 1.134 OPS in 32 games during his senior season for Loganville High School in Loganville, GA. Frazier entered the 2014 season ranked as the 2nd-best prospect in the entire Indians organization by Baseball America and was tabbed the best power hitting prospect in the publications annual Best Tools survey.
