Twins Complete Trade With Mariners

Twins Acquire RHP Stephen Pryor in Exchange for 1B/DH Kendrys Morales

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have acquired right-handed reliever Stephen Pryor from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for first baseman/designated hitter Kendrys Morales

Pryor, 25, made one appearance for the Mariners this year after opening the season on the disabled list (surgery to repair right latissimus dorsi muscle). He appeared in 34 games with the Mariners from 2012-2014, recording a 2.81 ERA (32.0 IP, 10 ER) with 35 strikeouts. Pryor was pitching at Triple-A Tacoma in the Pacific Coast League where he posted a 2-1 record with a save and a 4.65 ERA (31.0 IP, 16 ER). The 6-4, 245 pound reliever was originally drafted by the Mariners in fifth round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Tennessee Tech University. Pryor will report to Triple-A Rochester.

Morales, who was signed by the Twins on June 8, appeared in 39 games this season hitting .234 (36-for-154) with 11 doubles, one home run and 18 RBI.

Additionally, the Twins have recalled infielder Jorge Polanco from Single-A Ft. Myers to take the spot of Morales on the 25-man roster. This will be Polanco's second stint with the Twins this season, having appeared in four games (one start) in June going 2-for-5 with a double and a triple.
