Twins to recall right-handed pitcher Trevor May

Chris Colabello optioned to Triple-A Rochester

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced tonight that they will recall right-handed pitcher Trevor May from Triple-A Rochester prior to tomorrow's game at Oakland. May is scheduled to start and will be making his major league debut vs. the Athletics. The 25-year-old made 17 starts for the Red Wings, going 8-6 with a 2.93 ERA (95.1 IP, 31 ER), 91 strikeouts and 37 walks to go with a 1.17 WHIP. May, who will wear uniform number 65, was acquired by the Twins along with Vance Worley from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for Ben Revere prior to the 2013 season. The Phillies originally drafted May in the fourth round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of Kelso (Wash.) High School.

To make room for May on the 25-man roster, the Twins have optioned first baseman Chris Colabello to Triple-A Rochester. In two stints with Twins this season, Colabello has appeared in 59 games, hitting .229 (47-for-205) with 13 doubles, six home runs and 39 RBI.
