SHARP Literacy, Inc. and Ryan & Larisa Braun Unveil Mural at Miller Park

In partnership with Ryan and Larisa Braun and the Brewers Community Foundation, SHARP Literacy will unveil its "Movable Feast" mural at a pre-game ceremony on the field at Miller Park on Saturday, August 9 at 5:45 p.m. The three-panel traveling mural, focused on urban agriculture, was designed by SHARP's Artist-in-Residence Sally Duback and created by students in fifth through eighth grade at Lutheran Special School and Education Services (LSSES).

The "Movable Feast" mural was developed in conjunction with SHARP Literacy's 12th We Love to Learn book There Grows the Neighborhood: Agriculture in the City, which will be published in the fall. SHARP collaborated with Growing Power's CEO Will Allen on the book and mural project. During the creation of the mural, students were taught lessons about the earth's ecosystem and how to create sustainable communities, as well as lessons on simple nutrition and the concept of healthy eating for a healthy life. The Braun's involvement in the mural project stems from their interest in healthy foods and healthy eating. Larisa Braun is a nutritionist and blogs about wholesome, nourishing foods on her website modeleatsblog.com.

The pre-game unveiling ceremony will include Lynda Kohler, CEO & President of SHARP Literacy, Cecelia Gore, Executive Director of Brewers Community Foundation, Ryan & Larisa Braun, Jill Bell, a teacher from LSSES and students from the school. The mural will be displayed on the Loge Level at Miller Park through September. Kohler and Gore will be available for interviews immediately following the unveiling ceremony.
