A's Place IF Lowrie on 15-Day DL; Recall IF Parrino from Triple-A Sacramento

The Oakland Athletics have placed infielder Jed Lowrie on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to August 14 with a fractured right index finger and recalled infielder Andy Parrino from Triple-A Sacramento, the team announced today.

Lowrie was hitting .238 with five home runs and 42 RBI in 110 games. Lowrie was batting .299 with 10 multiple hit games over his last 29 games. He has 73 doubles over the last two seasons, which is tied for the most in the American League and tied for third most in the majors. He is also tied for eighth in the AL with six sacrifice flies this season. This is his seventh career stint on the disabled list but his first since 2012.

Parrino joins the A's for the third time this year. He was recalled for his first stint June 13 when Alberto Callaspo was placed on the paternity list, started two games and was optioned June 16. He was recalled again July 12 and went 2 for 6 (.333) in three games before he was optioned July 20. Parrino is batting .250 in five games overall with Oakland. He is batting .274 with seven home runs and 57 RBI in 103 games between Triple-A Round Rock and Sacramento.
