Indians extend RHP Scott Atchison

CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has signed RHP SCOTT ATCHISON for the 2015 season with a club option for 2016.

Atchison, 38, has been a valuable member of the club's bullpen in 2014, posting a 6-0 record with a 2.95 ERA in 53 relief appearances (1SV, 55.0IP, 44H, 18ER, 9BB, 37K), limiting Major League hitters to a .218 (44-202) average against. Scott ranks among American League relief leaders in wins (T2nd, 6), pct. of inherited runners scored (10th, 18%, 5/28) and relief innings (19th, 55.0IP) while limiting right-handed hitters to a .214 (28-131, .565 OPS) average against. Since June 21st he owns an ERA of 2.28 (23.2IP, 18H, 6ER) over his last 22 games.

The Woodlands, TX native owns a career Major League record of 16-10 with two saves and a 3.51 ERA in 258 Major League appearances (1GS, 310.0IP, 288H, 121ER, 80BB, 229K, .247AVG) since debuting with the Seattle Mariners in 2004. He began his professional career in 1999 after being selected by Seattle in the 49th round of the 1998 draft out of TCU.
