Cubs recall RHP Blake Parker from Triple-A Iowa

CHICAGO - The Chicago Cubs today recalled right-handed pitcher Blake Parker from Triple-A Iowa. Parker will be available for the Cubs this afternoon as they open their series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field.

Parker, 29, finished his Iowa campaign 0-1 with 25 saves and a 1.77 ERA (8 ER/35.2 IP) in 35 games. He limited the opponent to a .214 batting average, walked 13 and struck out 52, good for an average of 13.1 strikeouts per 9.0 innings. His 25 saves led all of Triple-A baseball.

The righthander is 1-1 with a 6.08 ERA (9 ER/13.1 IP) in 10 big league outings this year. In parts of three major league seasons since making his debut with the Cubs in 2012, Parker is 2-3 with one save and a 3.70 ERA (27 ER/65.2 IP) in 66 relief appearances. He was 1-2 with one save and a 2.72 ERA (14 ER/46.1 IP) in 49 relief outings with the Cubs in 2013.
