Twelfth annual Colorado Rockies Adult Leadership Award

Ceremonies Honoring Youth and Adult Leaders at Coors Field on Saturday, September 20th

DENVER - During the month of September, the Colorado Rockies are honoring several individuals in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at Coors Field. These efforts will culminate on Saturday, September 20 with pregame on-field ceremonies, when the team will honor the winner of the Colorado Rockies Adult Leadership Award and the youth winners of the Youth Essay Contest. This season marks the twelfth year that the Colorado Rockies organization has honored exceptional adult and youth leaders in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
                                                                                                            
The Rockies will honor four leaders this year for the positive work they have done in the Hispanic community. Each of the finalists listed below will be honored with an individual pregame ceremony this month, and then all four finalists will be honored as a group prior to the game on Saturday, September 20, when the overall winner will be announced. An adjoining ceremony will honor the winners of the annual Youth Essay Contest in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and on the topic of "Heroes," using baseball legend Roberto Clemente as an inspirational example. All student participants receive tickets to September games and the winners receive Rockies merchandise and tickets to the September 20 game.

  • Rosa Marie Vergil Garcia- pregame ceremony on September 2nd
  • Laura Doanes- pregame ceremony on September 3rd
  • Dr. Ruby Martinez- pregame ceremony on September 6th
  • Jamie Torres- pregame ceremony on September 7th

 
The Colorado Rockies Adult Leadership Award was developed to recognize individuals who demonstrate a commitment to the Hispanic community through community involvement, the promotion of family values and personal achievements. Eligible recipients are Colorado residents, do not need to be of Hispanic heritage, but must be actively involved in the Hispanic community. The winner's name will be placed on signage displayed inside Coors Field, and the winner will also receive Season Tickets for the Rockies 2015 season along with other charitable benefits.
