D-backs recall Joe Paterson, Brett Jackson from Triple-A Reno

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) recalled left-handed pitcher Joe Paterson and outfielder Brett Jackson (@TheBJacks) from Triple-A Reno, as announced by D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Paterson, 28, posted a 2.95 ERA (14 ER in 42.2 IP) while holding opponents scoreless in 45 of his 56 relief outings for the Aces. He held left-handed batters to a .198 average (17-for-86) and currently owns a 6-game scoreless streak (4.1 IP) at the time of his promotion.

Paterson has made 70 appearances with the D-backs over parts of 3 seasons (2011-13), going 0-3 with 1 save and a 5.31 ERA (23 ER in 39.0 IP). He was selected in the Rule 5 Draft from the Giants on Dec. 9, 2010.

Jackson, who will wear No. 62 in his first stint with the D-backs, combined to hit .208 (50-for-240) with 8 doubles, 4 triples, 6 home runs and 23 RBI in 92 games with Triple-A Iowa and Reno. The 25-year old was claimed off waivers from the Cubs on Aug. 14 and acquired in exchange for right-handed pitcher Blake Cooper.

Jackson played in 44 games with the Cubs in 2012 and batted .175 (21-for-120) with 6 doubles, 4 home runs and 9 RBI. Over 6 Minor League seasons with the Cubs (2009-2014) and D-backs (2014), Jackson hit .263 (553-for-2,104) with 102 doubles, 67 homers and 257 RBI in 589 games. Jackson was drafted in the first round (31st overall) in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft from the University of California-Berkeley.

The D-backs' active roster is now at 32. The 40-man roster remains at 40.
