Three-game sets with Rangers, Phillies and Angels wrap up A's regular season home slate

OAKLAND - The Oakland A's wrap up the 2014 regular season home schedule with a trio of three-game series against the Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Angels beginning Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m.

The homestand begins with three games against Adrian Beltre and the division-rival Texas Rangers, followed by a rare visit by Oakland native Jimmy Rollins and the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies series-which runs Friday through Sunday, with a pair of weekend matinees-will feature three-straight nights of special events: STAR WARS™ Fireworks Night presented by State Farm (Friday); the Oktoberfest Stein Giveaway presented by Cache Creek Casino Resort (Saturday); and the A's Team Photo Giveaway, presented by Kingsford Capital Management (Sunday).

The regular season home slate concludes with three games against Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and the Los Angeles Angels, which is likely to have postseason implications for both clubs.

STAR WARS™ Fireworks Night Presented by State Farm: On Friday, Sept. 19, the A's will host STAR WARS™ Fireworks Night presented by State Farm. The fireworks will be set to the music of STAR WARS™, Darth Vader will throw out the first pitch, and characters from the movies will be on hand. Fans can watch the show from the field, but space is limited.

Oktoberfest Stein Giveaway, presented by Cache Creek Casino Resort: Fans are invited to enjoy Oktoberfest at the O.co Coliseum on Saturday, Sept. 20, when the A's take on the Philadelphia Phillies. At that afternoon's 1:05 p.m. game, 10,000 fans will receive an Oktoberfest Stein, courtesy of Cache Creek Casino Resort, and there will be German-themed music throughout the game.

A's Team Photo Giveaway, presented by Kingsford Capital Management: At the A's vs. Phillies game on Sunday, Sept. 21, 10,000 fans will receive a team photo of the 2014 Athletics, courtesy of Kingsford Capital Management.

Community Relations

Roberto Clemente Award Nominee: A to-be-announced Oakland A's player will be recognized as the A's nominee for the national 2014 Roberto Clemente Award during an on-field ceremony prior to the game on Wednesday, Sept. 17. The Roberto Clemente Award, sponsored by Chevrolet, recognizes the player who best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement and positive contribution to their team.

Jim "Catfish" Hunter Award: The A's will present the 11th Annual Jim "Catfish" Hunter Award on Sunday, Sept. 21, prior to the game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Voted on by A's players, the award honors an A's player whose play on the field and conduct in the clubhouse best exemplifies the competitive, inspirational and courageous spirit of the Hall of Fame pitcher. This year's winner will be announced soon.

Dave Stewart Community Service Award: A to-be-announced A's player will be honored as the recipient of the 2014 Dave Stewart Community Service Award, which is given annually to an A's player in recognition of charitable contributions throughout Northern California and across the nation. Stewart will present the player with the award prior to the game on Wednesday, Sept. 24, in a special on-field ceremony.

Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) Auctions: During the games on Sept. 19-23, the MLBPAA will be at O.co Coliseum behind Section 217 to auction off memorabilia signed by Major League Baseball alumni. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the A's Community Fund.

A's Community Fund Silent Auctions: Every Saturday and Sunday home game (and other select dates), the A's Community Fund hosts a silent auction featuring signed and unsigned A's memorabilia as well as game-used items. The silent auctions are located in the A's fan center behind Section 120 and end with the last out in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Green Stampede Homework Club: At select games throughout the season, elementary school students will visit O.co Coliseum to receive help with their homework from tutors and aids. An A's player will visit and sign autographs for the students as a way to congratulate them for their hard work. After the students have finished their homework, they are able to sit in the stands and watch the game.
