The 19th Annual Seattle Mariners FanFest is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, January 28-29, at Safeco Field. Among those slated to appear are new Mariners Jarrod Dyson, Drew Smyly, Yovani Gallardo, Mitch Haniger, Marc Rzepczynski and Danny Valencia, along with James Paxton, Leonys Martin, Dan Altavilla, manager Scott Servais and general manager Jerry Dipoto.
Also scheduled to appear are Mariners Legends Jay Buhner, Edgar Martinez, Dave Valle and Dan Wilson, as well as four of the top prospects in the Mariners minor league system: Kyle Lewis, Andrew Moore, Nick Neidert and Tyler O'Neill.
FanFest tickets are available at Mariners.com/FanFest and at Mariners Team Stores. Kids 14 and younger are free. Adults are $10. FanFest hours are from 11am-4pm for the general public with an exclusive Season Ticket Holders session from 9-11am on Saturday. Parking at the Safeco Field garage is $10.
Mariners players in attendance at FanFest will sign autographs and participate in various activities including the Dugout Dialogue Q&A with fans. There will also be attractions such as Clubhouse tours, run around the bases, a 200-foot zip line over the outfield and free Kids Club registration.
Future Mariners
In addition to current and former Mariners players, fans will have a chance to meet some of the Mariners top prospects including Kyle Lewis, Andrew Moore, Nick Neidert and Tyler O'Neill.
Kyle Lewis, who was drafted by the Mariners in the June 2016 first-year player draft, received the Golden Spikes Award as the nation's top amateur baseball player. He was also named Southern Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. With the Everett AquaSox, Lewis reached base safely in 26 of 30 games and was tied for second in the Northwest League with five triples. He was one of five AquaSox to be named to the Northwest League All-Star team. He was unable to play due to injury (torn anterior cruciate ligament as well as a torn medial and lateral meniscus in his right knee). He's projected to be back on the field in June or July.
Andrew Moore received the Jamie Moyer Award as the top pitcher in the Mariners minor league system. He went 12-4 with a 2.65 ERA in 28 starts combined between Bakersfield and Jackson in last season. Moore helped lead the Jackson Generals to the 2016 Southern League Championship going a combined 0-0 with a 1.20 ERA (2 ER, 15.0 IP) in two starts during the postseason.
Pitcher Nick Neidert was 7-3 with a 2.57 ERA with the Clinton Lumberkings (Class A). In the decisive Game 3 of the Midwest League Finals, Neidert struck out nine and didn't walk a better as Clinton topped the Kernals 1-0. At one point during the 2016 postseason, Neidert had a string of 18 scoreless innings.
Outfielder Tyler O'Neill received the Ken Griffey Jr. Minor League Hitter of the Year Award with a .293 average, 24 home runs and 102 RBI last season with Jackson. O'Neill's RBI total set a Mariners record and placed him among the leaders in the Southern League. He was named Southern League MVP and Player of the Year, as well as MVP of the League Championship Series last season, and was one of two Mariners farmhands to play in the All-Star Futures game at San Diego.
