Toronto Blue Jays outfielder and Canada native Michael Saunders (#VoteCaptainCanada) and San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt (#VoteBelt) are the day one leaders in the Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote (#FinalVote), held exclusively on MLB.com and the individual Club sites.
Saunders has 4.8 million votes to pace the tight race in the AL race, where the top players closely behind him continue to swap spots almost hourly. George Springer (Houston Astros) has moved into second place, only percentage points ahead of Dustin Pedroia (Boston Red Sox) and Ian Kinsler (Detroit Tigers). Earlier returns overnight saw Pedroia in second, Kinsler in third and Springer in fourth.
Over in the NL, Belt has moved all the way from fifth in early returns last night to his current standing in first place with a total of 2.5 million votes. Starling Marte (Pittsburgh Pirates) was the early leader and has slipped behind Belt to second place where he is followed closely by Trevor Story (Colorado Rockies) and Jake Lamb (Arizona Diamondbacks).
