The A's recalled right-hander Zach Neal from Triple-A Nashville on Thursday, the team announced, optioning left-hander Patrick Schuster to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
This is the 27-year-old Neal's fourth stint with Oakland this season, his first year in the big leagues. Neal has an 8.04 ERA in eight games for the A's, including one start, and has also notched one save.
Schuster, 25, was called up the first week of July and posted a 15.43 ERA in four relief appearances in his first career Major League action.
