Hahn exits in third inning with triceps strain

OAKLAND -- A's right-hander exited in the top of the third inning of Tuesday's contest against the Miami Marlins with a strain in his right triceps.

After Hahn gave up a leadoff single to and went to a 2-1 count against , A's manager Bob Melvin and head trainer Nick Paparesta came out for a brief visit before Hahn left the mound. 

The 27-year-old right-hander was charged with five earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts in his two-plus innings, raising his ERA to 3.81 on the season.

If Hahn needs to miss any future starts, right-hander is available to be promoted from Triple-A Nashville. On Sunday, Cotton threw seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out nine.

Cotton went 3-4 with a 5.68 ERA in seven starts with Oakland before his demotion on May 11. He ranks second among American League rookies in innings pitched (38) and strikeouts (35).
