NEW YORK -- The record books are not safe from Aaron Judge's power. The Yankees rookie hit his Major League-leading 13th home run in Wednesday's 8-6 win at Yankee Stadium, becoming the youngest player in history to reach that total in his team's first 26 games of a season.
Judge, 25, dispatched yet another drive to Monument Park in the third inning, barreling a 93.6 mph Marcus Stroman fastball for a two-run blast that cut the Blue Jays' lead to 6-5. Judge's homer was calculated to have traveled a projected 435 feet, coming off the bat at 112.5 mph, according to Statcast™.
"I honestly take it one day at a time," said Judge, who added a pair of singles for his first career three-hit game. "I kind of forget what I did the day before. I'm just going in there like it's Opening Day for me. Go out there, just have some quality at-bats, get up five times. Keep having quality at-bats and good things will happen."

Have they ever. The only other right-handed-hitting outfielder to slug 13 homers in his team's first 26 games was Hall of Famer Willie Mays, who did it for the Giants in 1964, and the Yankees are now 11-0 in games where Judge clears an outfield wall.
"He made some adjustments the last couple weeks of Spring Training that really got him going," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "We knew he was a good outfielder, knew he could run the bases. We knew all those things. We wanted consistent contact, because if a man that size makes consistent contact, there's going to be some damage."

Judge was named the American League's Rookie of the Month for April earlier in the afternoon, and celebrated by completing a homestand in which he hit safely in all six games, going 11-for-21 (.524) with 12 runs, six homers, 12 RBIs and eight walks.
"He's so strong," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "He can mishit a ball and hit it a long way. Generally, when guys mishit balls they're a little late. They get a lot of balls, if you're right-handed, to go to right field, and this is an ideal place for that."

The Yankees have had two of the last three AL Rookies of the Month, with Gary Sanchez's epic August also proving to be hardware-worthy. Chase Headley said that witnessing two dominant rookie performances in the span of a calendar year has been impressive.
"It's special," Headley said. "You've got a couple of guys that have a lot of ability and a good head on their shoulders. I think they're confident and comfortable here. Obviously we're excited to get Gary back as well. It's been a good start."

Judge said that he can't remember ever feeling this locked in at any level -- "T-ball?" he joked -- and credits his success to staying aggressive and swinging at good pitches.
"There's been quite a few days where my BP is terrible, my cage work is terrible," Judge said. "It's just about going out there and grinding out some at-bats. I wouldn't say I'm in a zone. I'm just competing."
