Acevedo, Florial to rep Yanks in Futures Game

Prospects named to World team for July 9 matchup

CHICAGO -- Right-hander Domingo Acevedo and outfielder Estevan Florial will represent the Yankees organization when they suit up for the World team in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, to be played at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 9, at Marlins Park in Miami. One of the hardest throwing starters in the Minors, the 23-year-old Acevedo has been clocked as high as 103 mph and usually operates between 95-100 mph. Acevedo has pitched at three levels this season, going a combined 3-5 with a 3.16 ERA in 15 starts.

In 94 innings, Acevedo has permitted 89 hits while walking 21 and striking out 100, holding opponents to a .247 batting average. In addition to a blistering heater, Acevedo also features a mid-80s slider and a changeup.

Rated as the Yankees' No. 12 prospect by MLBPipeline.com, the 6-foot-7, 240-pounder hails from Villa Los Almacigos, Dominican Republic. He is currently playing for Double-A Trenton, where he is 2-0 with a 1.34 ERA in six starts.

Florial, 20, is rated as the Yankees' No. 15 prospect. A left-handed-hitting product of Port Au Prince, Haiti, Florial features a lean and athletic build with above-average raw power, arm strength and plus speed.

Currently a member of the Yankees' Class A Charleston roster, Florial is batting .310/.388/.522 in 67 games, collecting 16 doubles, four triples, 10 homers and 34 RBIs. He has struck out 90 times against 32 walks while collecting 13 stolen bases.

In addition, several Yankees farmhands were honored with invitations to All-Star Games this week. Outfielder Dustin Fowler and left-hander Caleb Smith were selected to represent Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on the International League team in the 30th annual Triple-A All-Star Game, to be played on July 12 in Tacoma, Wash.

The Double-A Trenton Thunder placed four players on the Eastern Division roster of the 2017 Eastern League All-Star Game, to be played July 12 in Manchester, N.H.: infielder Thairo Estrada, first baseman Mike Ford, right-hander Yefry Ramirez and left-hander Justus Sheffield.
