LaRoche to throw out 1st pitch before Game 2

October 8th, 2016

WASHINGTON -- After Game 2 of the National League Division Series between the Nationals and Dodgers was postponed because of rain, former Washington first baseman and his son, Drake, paid a visit to the Nationals' locker room. They'll be back at Nationals Park on Sunday in a more visible capacity.
LaRoche is scheduled to throw out the first pitch to his son before Game 2 starts at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT, FS1) on Sunday. LaRoche was an integral part of the team's division titles in 2012 and '14 before signing with the White Sox entering the 2015 season.

"It's an honor to throw out the first pitch. It's a pretty special feeling," LaRoche said. "It shouldn't have surprised me because of some of the relationships [I developed] here. Just the character of this club, it's something I will never forget. So, it's great to come back."
LaRoche, who retired this past Spring Training, said he doesn't miss playing the game, but he does miss the friendships he developed over the years.
"I don't miss playing. I miss the guys," LaRoche said. "I miss the chance to invest in guys throughout the year. As you know, we spend the majority of the time together, and you get to know guys down deep. You get a chance to impact real life going on and not just baseball."
