Adduci making progress

ARLINGTON -- Rangers outfielder and first baseman Jim Adduci has been hitting off a tee, and will take regular batting practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. He is close to being able to go on a medical rehab assignment if all goes well this week. The Rangers could even get him in a simulated game this week in Arlington.

Adduci fractured his left pinkie finger twice, the first time on April 19, the second in early June while on a medical rehab assignment in Triple-A Round Rock for the original injury.

"For us I think the only way to have a true feeling is to hit off the machine," Adduci said. "Obviously I want to have two days of it so that on Friday I can kind of gauge where I need to be at -- quantity of swings and recovery ... Right now the plan is Saturday. Saturday go out and rehab this thing."

Adduci added that though his strength is not fully back, he's no longer in discomfort.

"I think it's not going to be 100 percent, talked to the doctors and talked to the ortho guys," Adduci said. "It's gonna be where it is. It's kinda sore, but who isn't sore right now?"
