Rangers Third Baseman Adrian Beltre named the Budweiser Presents American League Player of the Month for July

Beltre's third monthly award ties for second most in club history

Arlington, Texas - Major League Baseball announced today that Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has been named the Budweiser Presents American League Player of the Month for July. Voting for the award is done by the league writers and broadcasters.

It is his fourth career honor, his third as a Ranger with previous awards in September 2011 and September 2012. He also captured the National League award with the Dodgers in September 2004.

Beltre finished July in a tie with Alfonso Soriano for the MLB lead in home runs (9). He also tied with Torii Hunter for ML lead in total bases (69) while finishing among the A.L. July leaders in slugging percentage (2nd, .670), hits (T2nd, 38), extra-base hits (T4th, 13), RBI (T5th, 19), and batting average (6th, .369). Beltre ended the month with a ninth-inning walk-off homer to defeat the Los Angeles Angels on July 31. He was also selected as the A.L. Player of the Week for the week ending July 7.

Beltre is one of seven players to win the monthly award multiple times in a career with the Rangers, joining Josh Hamilton (4 times), Rafael Palmeiro (3), Alex Rodriguez (3), Ivan Rodriguez, Juan Gonzalez, and Ruben Sierra (twice each).
