Adrian Beltre undergoes surgery on left thumb

Arlington, TX - Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre had surgery on his left thumb on Thursday in Los Angeles. During the procedure, which was performed by Dr. Steven Shin, Beltre had scar tissue removed as part of a clean-up in the thumb. The surgery went as expected and Beltre is expected to be fully ready for spring training.

Beltre played much of the 2015 season with the left thumb issue after injuring the ligament on a slide into second base on May 31 vs. Boston. He was on the disabled list from June 1-22 but missed no more time the rest of the year.

Beltre batted .287 with 18 home runs and 83 RBI in 143 games for the Rangers in 2015.
