Adrian 'hopeful' for Monday; Greinke on track

DENVER -- Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said he was "hopeful" Adrian Gonzalez would return to the lineup Monday night in San Francisco.

Gonzalez, who has been limited by a pinched nerve in his back, missed his third game in four days when he was held out of Sunday's game against Colorado.

"Adrian was better today," Mattingly said Sunday. "I saw him in the lobby, he sounded encouraged. We're hopeful for tomorrow. We'll see where he's at."

Mattingly confirmed that Zack Greinke, who skipped his last start with a tight calf, will make his scheduled start Monday. Enrique Hernandez, out with a strained left hamstring since Aug. 31, will rejoin the club for the Giants series.

Mattingly said Justin Turner was getting a scheduled precautionary day off Sunday to protect his tender left knee. Corey Seager, who has missed two of the last three games with leg fatigue, didn't start Sunday as a precaution as well.

"He seems to be good," Mattingly said of the highly touted rookie. "I think we're being cautious with him. If you ask him, he'll say he's fine. Just being careful."

Reliever Jim Johnson rejoined the club after missing four games on paternity leave.
