Gonzalez named NL Player of the Week to open season
Dodgers slugger led Majors in homers, batting average and on-base percentage
Adrian Gonzalez's power-hitting spree to open the 2015 season netted the Dodgers first baseman National League Player of the Week honors.
Gonzalez led the Majors in home runs (five), hits (14), total bases (32), batting average (.609), on-base percentage (.667) and slugging percentage (1.391) through six games.
Gonzalez homered on Opening Day and Tuesday, before launching three more Wednesday against the Padres. He became the only player in Major League history to hit five home runs through his team's first three games of a season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, and he also became the third Dodgers player since 1914 to open the season with at least one homer in each of the club's first three games, joining Jim Wynn ('74) and Carl Furillo ('55).

Gonzalez was 10-for-13 during the three-game series against the Padres at Dodger Stadium, and he collected at least one hit in all six of his games, including four multihit efforts.
This is Gonzalez's eighth career Player of the Week Award, and his first with the Dodgers.
