Adrianza gets start at second
SAN DIEGO -- Ehire Adrianza, who went 3-for-3 off the bench Thursday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, started only his fourth game of the year, all at second base, in the Giants' series opener Friday night at San Diego.
Adrianza played shortstop almost exclusively during his eight professional seasons before this one. Nevertheless, said Giants manager Bruce Bochy, the 24-year-old rookie has adjusted smoothly to playing second.
"He has looked comfortable since Day One," Bochy said. "Going to his left or right, turning the pivot -- he has a lot of range, too."
Adrianza hadn't started a game since April 6 at Los Angeles.
