A.J. Pollock played in a game for the first time in more than a month on Saturday. He filled up the box score like the usual A.J. Pollock.
Pollock went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk in a five-inning rehab appearance for Triple-A Reno on Saturday night. The D-backs center fielder, who has been on the disabled list since May 15 because of a strained right groin, will take the day off Sunday and likely return to the field for Reno on Monday, D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said.
"We're encouraged by that," Lovullo said of the first game of Pollock's rebab. "He'll get reevaluated by medical staff and then we'll piece together the next step. Obviously we'd like him to play again soon, hopefully [Monday]."
Pollock, 29, has a slash line of .299/.337/.455 in 37 games this season.
Tomas progressing well
• Fellow rehabbing, D-backs outfielder Yasmany Tomas has initiated more running activity as he works back from right groin tendonitis at the team's Spring Training facility in Salt River.
"He feels great and is working toward being 100 percent," said Lovullo, who did not have a timetable for a possible return for Tomas.
The 26-year-old Cuban outfielder last played on June 2 and has a .241 average with eight homers in 2017.
