TORONTO -- Albert Pujols moved his name up the record books on Wednesday night belting his 584th career home run in the Angels' 8-2 win over the Blue Jays, passing former teammate Mark McGwire into sole possession of 10th on the all-time list.
Pujols drove Marco Estrada's 0-1 cutter over the fence in left-center, giving the Angels a 2-0 lead in the first inning and going back-to-back with Mike Trout.
"Albert just keeps going, he's approaching 100 RBIs and he's in the middle of our lineup everyday," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said.
After reviewing the pitches to both Pujols and Trout, Estrada conceded he was beaten by good hitters.
"I went back and looked at some of the hits I gave up, I made good pitches. They have two of the best hitters on one team and I made two good pitches to them and they hit it out," he said. "I'm not really sure, just one of those days I guess."

It was Pujols' 24th home run of the season -- he finished the night with a season-high four hits to go along with three RBIs. It marks Pujols' first four-hit game since June 17, 2013.
"That's pretty special," said Trout. "Obviously, him and McGwire were teammates [with the Cardinals], they know each other well, so it's pretty special for him.
"He's done it his whole career, and we haven't seen any signs of him slowing down. He's still putting up numbers, still driving in a 100, it's fun to watch for sure."

Pujols remains one RBI shy of his 13th 100-RBI season. Only Alex Rodriguez (14) has more such seasons since RBI became an official stat in 1920.
The Angels' slugger is now two back of Frank Robinson (586) for ninth on the all-time home run list.
