Ogando agrees to Minors deal with D-backs

July 9th, 2016

SAN FRANCISCO -- The D-backs have agreed to a Minor League contract with right-hander Alexi Ogando, a baseball source confirmed Friday.
The news was first reported by SB Nation's Chris Cotillo.
Ogando was designated for assignment by the Braves in late June after compiling a 3.94 ERA in 36 games. He was given his release July 1.
Last season, Ogando appeared in a career-high 64 games for the Red Sox and was 3-1 with a 3.99 ERA.
• Catcher Chris Herrmann is once again experiencing issues with his right hamstring and will be limited to pinch-hitting duty during the series with the Giants.
Herrmann originally experienced cramping in the hamstring June 26 in Colorado. He started behind the plate Wednesday, but left the game early when he experienced some discomfort in the hamstring.
D-backs manager Chip Hale said the team hoped Herrmann will be fully healthy when the second half starts next Friday.
