All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot Sponsored by freecreditscore.com ends

Fans cast 3.8 million ballots on July 4; Caps largest three-year run with 1.13 billion votes cast since 2011; All-Star teams and Final Vote candidates to be announced tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. EDT on FOX

Fan balloting for the 17 elected starting position players in the 84th All-Star Game, to be played Tuesday, July 16 at Citi Field in New York, ended in a flurry on Independence Day with the second-highest single day voting total in the online program's history. More than 3.8 million ballots were cast online yesterday at MLB.com and the 30 Club websites as the 2013 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot Sponsored by freecreditscore.com came to a close.

This year's All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot Sponsored by freecreditscore.com capped the largest three-year run in online voting history by surpassing one billion votes - 1.13B. Overall, this year's online program generated 383.6 million votes from 31.6 million ballots.

Many of the races were too close to call entering the final week of online-only balloting, including four in the National League: catcher (Molina & Posey); second base (Phillips, Carpenter & Scutaro); third base (Wright & Sandoval) and the third outfield spot (Upton, Harper & McCutchen).

For a unique vantage point of some of those closest races, MLB.com debuted its new online vote data visualization map, showing the geographic distribution of those players' votes over the course of the entire online balloting program. By scrolling over a county in the 50 United States, MLB.com uses a color-coded display to show the online vote share for each player. To see the map, please click here.
"freecreditscore.com is pleased to be a part of the largest online balloting program in professional sports through our partnership of the All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot," said Renee Borsack, director of sponsorships and events with freecreditscore.com. Final results will be unveiled tomorrow when the American League and National League All-Star teams will be announced live on the 2013 All-Star Game Selection Show Presented by Taco Bell at 6:30 p.m. (EDT) on FOX. MLB.com also will feature complete coverage with video and analysis of both rosters.
