Perez later added a single, though it wasn't enough as the Royals lost 8-5.
Perez now has six RBIs in his last eight games, coming after a career-high stretch of 16 straight games without an RBI.
"I was struggling," Perez said. "It's not where I want to be right now. But it's something I don't have control over, the hitting. The only thing I can do is play defense. You can control that. Everybody knows hitting is up and down a little bit. I just tried to make my adjustments and tried to get better every day."
Perez's home run, his 12th, gave the Royals a 3-0 lead at the time.
