All-tournament team named at Astros Foundation College Classic

Six Texas teams to participate in 2014 tournament

HOUSTON, TX --  The three-day Astros Foundation College Classic baseball tournament (March 1-3) concluded tonight at Minute Maid Park with North Carolina, the No. 1 team in the nation, finishing with a perfect 3-0 record. Houston and Baylor finished with 2-1 marks; Texas A&M and California went 1-2, while Rice went 0-3.

Each team placed at least one player on the 2013 Astros Foundation College Classic All-Tournament Team, which was highlighted by the Classic's Most Outstanding Player 3B Cal Towey from Baylor, who hit .600 (6x10) with two doubles, one triple, six RBI, four runs scored and three walks.

The remaining 2013 All-Tournament Team filled out as listed below:

                Astros Foundation College Classic Most Outstanding Player: 3B Cal Towey, Baylor

The Astros also announced the field for the 2014 Astros Foundation College Classic will feature six universities, which all hail from the state of Texas. Rice University and the University of Houston will make their annual appearances in the tournament and will be joined by Texas, Texas Tech, TCU and Sam Houston State. This will mark the second time in tournament history that the field will feature all Texas teams and the first time since the inaugural tournament in 2001 (Baylor, Houston, Rice, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech).

The 2014 Astros Foundation College Classic will mark the event's 14th year and will feature nine games at Minute Maid Park from Feb. 28-March 2, 2014.
