Amber Sabathia joins CAA Sports as agent

CC Sabathia may have hung up his spikes following a remarkable career, but that doesn’t mean his family is finished making an impact on the Major Leagues.

Sabathia’s wife, Amber, has joined CAA Sports as a baseball agent, adding another line to an already impressive résumé.

Amber Sabathia has been involved in every aspect of her husband’s career; Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has said that selling Amber on the idea of coming to New York back in December 2008 was as crucial to landing the former Cy Young winner as convincing CC himself.

Amber serves as the co-founder and executive director of the PitCCH In Foundation, an organization committed to enriching the lives of at-risk youth in inner cities. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Get In The Game, a newly founded organization committed to educate, inspire and empower youth to take action through kindness, dignity and diversity.

“Having a front-row seat alongside CC’s career throughout the past two decades provided me with critical insight and experience in business, marketing, and philanthropy,” Amber said in a statement announcing her new role. “I recognize my unique ability to support, advise and lead all facets of the process with players and their families. After considering my options, I know through the support of the team at CAA Sports, the best in the industry, I will be able to fulfill my potential and help shape the next generation of great athletes.”

CAA Sports represents a number of prominent big league players, including Buster Posey, Shohei Ohtani, J.T. Realmuto, Jack Flaherty and Trea Turner. Interestingly, CC Sabathia, who is currently a special advisor for the Yankees, was not repped by CAA Sports during his career.

“We are honored to have Amber join our CAA family,” said Jeff Berry, CAA Sports’ co-head of baseball. “With more than 20 years of experience in the business of baseball, working alongside her husband CC, Amber has demonstrated tremendous strategic vision and meticulous execution as an entrepreneur and philanthropist. Now, in her new role as Agent, Amber brings a unique perspective as a businesswoman of color, baseball wife and mother, all of which will prove invaluable to our team and the clients we serve.”
