Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith proved worthy of their elite prospect rankings as the duo led Double-A Binghamton to a 9-1 victory over Hartford on Tuesday night.
The duo, ranked Nos. 1 and 2 in the Mets' system, combined to go 6-for-10 with five RBIs in just the latest of several good offensive games for both players.
Rosario, MLB Pipeline's No. 15 overall prospect, went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs. He also scored a pair of runs as Smith drove him in for each of his two RBIs.

"He's got all the talent in the world and right now he got better with his plate discipline," Binghamton hitting coach Luis Natera told MiLB.com. "He uses the whole field, he's got a great two-strike approach and the ability to go the opposite field. He's reminding me a lot of José Reyes."
Smith, the No. 61 overall prospect, has hit in five straight games and has back-to-back three-hit performances after a 3-for-5 night of his own. The first baseman has been on fire all month, hitting .413 in 20 games.

"When he gets some separation, he gets on top of the ball really well and stays back," Natera said. "He can do damage when he does that. Right now, he's made a good adjustment with his hands."
Although Rosario hasn't been as hot as his teammate in August, he has hits in five of his past six games and is batting .327 through 42 Double-A games in total.

• Yoan Moncada (Red Sox's No. 1, No. 2 overall) has reached base in seven straight plate appearances for Double-A Portland. The highly-touted 21-year-old hit his 14th homer of the season on a night where he primarily kept the bat on his shoulder, going 1-for-1 with three RBIs and four walks.

• Franklin Barreto (Athletics' No. 1, No. 49 overall) led off the game with his 10th homer of the season for Double-A Midland. The shortstop finished 2-for-3 and extended his hitting streak to 11 games in the process.

• Sean Newcomb (Braves' No. 3, No. 53 overall) has given up one earned run or fewer in four of his past five starts after spinning six scoreless frames for Double-A Mississippi. Newcomb, a lefty, struck out five and gave up just two hits while walking four.

• Bobby Bradley (Indians' No. 3, No. 75 overall) turned in his fourth career multi-homer game in a 2-for-5, three-RBI effort with Class A Advanced Lynchburg. The pair of homers marked Bradley's first multi-homer game of the season and brought his home run total to 28, a career high. Francisco Mejia (Indians' No. 4, No. 94 overall) also homered for Lynchburg. Mejia, who now has two homers over the past five games, went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
• Zack Collins (White Sox No. 2, No. 90 overall) had his first career two-homer game for Class A Advanced Winston-Salem. Chicago's first-round selection went 2-for-3 with a pair of solo homers and has gone deep three times in the past three games.
• Nate Smith (Angels' No. 5) faced the minimum in seven dominant innings for Triple-A Salt Lake. The 24-year-old lefty gave up just one hit and struck out four in seven scoreless frames. Smith threw 56 of his 86 pitches for strikes and induced eight groundouts.

• Daniel Mengden (Athletics' No. 13) lowered his Triple-A ERA to 1.66 with five scoreless innings for Nashville. Mengden threw 56 of his 77 pitches for strikes and struck out six while allowing just three hits. The 23-year-old has thrown five scoreless in three of his past five starts.
• Cardinals No. 20 prospect Allen Cordoba went 6-for-8 in a doubleheader with Rookie-level Johnson City. The 20-year-old is hitting .362 through 48 games this season and has hits in 10 of his past 11 games.
• Trevor Clifton (Cubs' No. 8) struck out 10 for the second time this season. Clifton scattered three hits and two walks across 6 2/3 scoreless innings for Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach, throwing 43 of 52 pitches for strikes. When the 21-year-old wasn't generating strikeouts, he relied on the ground ball, retiring six on the ground and just one via the air.
• Ben Lively (Phillies' No. 24) was nearly perfect in six innings for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 24-year-old threw 37 of his 48 pitches for strikes and retired 18 of the 19 batters he faced. Lively fanned one and gave up just one hit in six scoreless innings.
"I felt good. Everything was working well and everything was going where I wanted to throw it," Lively told MiLB.com. "Both the curveball and the sinker were just jamming them up a little bit and making them roll over."

• Pirates' No. 11 prospectNick Kingham hasn't given up a run in two starts with Class A Advanced Bradenton after throwing six scoreless innings. The right-hander struck out seven, throwing 50 of his 70 pitches for strikes, and walked one while giving up five hits.
• Taylor Guerrieri (Rays' No. 13) left the mound without giving up an earned run for the third time in his past four starts. The 23-year-old struck out four and gave up three hits in six scoreless innings.

• Rockies' No. 11 prospectTom Murphy registered his second two-homer game of the season for Triple-A Albuquerque. Murphy went 3-for-5 with three RBIs on the evening and now has four homers over his past six games.
• Mitch Garver (Twins' No. 25) extended his hitting streak to five with a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate. Garver doubled and scored a run in his first four-hit game since 2013.
