Orioles announce the band 'America' to headline All-American Family Day & Concert on April 6

Event is part of the "Arts in the Ballpark" series at Ed Smith Stadium

The Baltimore Orioles announced that Grammy Award-winning band "America" will headline the All-American Family Day & Concert festivities on Sunday, April 6 at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota. Part of the Orioles' "Arts in the Ballpark" event series and the Legacy of Valor campaign, the day of free, family-oriented activities will include a ceremony to honor veterans, a celebrity softball game, hands-on activities, and will be capped off with a special performance by "America."

"We are thrilled to join with The Patterson Foundation's Legacy of Valor campaign in welcoming the public to Ed Smith Stadium for this very special day to honor military veterans and their families," said David Rovine, Vice President of Orioles-Sarasota. "The Orioles are proud to host this celebration for the Sarasota area's returning heroes, and we invite members of the public to show their support and come out to enjoy the festivities."

The day's events will begin at 12:00 p.m. with a special ceremony recognizing returning heroes. Following the ceremony, an exhibition softball game will take place on the ballpark's main field. The contest will match local veterans against Sarasota celebrities, including politicians and local stars. Following the game, New York-based singer-songwriter Margaret Valentine will perform.

The day will also feature kid-friendly, hands-on activities including baseball trivia hosted by the South Florida Museum, an exhibit from Mote Marine Laboratory, and much more.

The All-American Family Day concludes with a free concert by Grammy Award-winning artists, "America" (http://www.wmeclients.com/music/adult-contemporary/AMERICA).

All events and activities are free and concessions will be available for purchase. Parking is available in the East Lot at a cost of $5 per vehicle. For the concert, attendees may sit on the outfield grass or in the stands; however, no lawn chairs or high-heeled shoes will be permitted on the field.

The "Arts in the Ballpark" series continues on May 10, when the Sarasota Orchestra performs "Spirit of America", an outdoor Pops concert, featuring guest artist Molly Cherryholmes, a five time Grammy-nominated violinist, vocalist and songwriter.
