Angels & Huston Street Agree to Terms on a Two-Year Contract Extension

ANAHEIM, CA - Angels General Manager Jerry Dipoto today announced the club has agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with RHP Huston Street. The contract will take Street through the 2017 campaign with a club option for the 2018 season. Per club policy, no financial terms of the agreement will be announced.

Street, 31, is in his second season with the Halos after being acquired from San Diego on July 18, 2014. In 14 appearances this season, is 2-1 with 11 saves and a 3.29 ERA (13.2 IP - 5 ER). His 11 saves rank tied for second in the American League in 2015.

The native of Austin, TX has appeared in 590 career games and has compiled a 38-30 lifetime record with 286 saves (332 save opportunities) and a 2.83 ERA (605 IP - 190 ER). He is a two-time All-Star (2012 & 2014) and was the 2005 American League Rookie of the Year. Across the last five seasons, he has successfully converted 137 of 149 save opportunities. In that span, the 91.9% conversion rate leads the Majors (min. 50 save opportunities). Since making his Major League debut in 2005, he is one of four relievers to record at least 200 saves and 600 strikeouts (also, Joe Nathan, Jonathan Papelbon and Francisco Rodriguez).

Street and Dipoto will be available TODAY, MAY 13 at 3:15 p.m. in the downstairs press conference room located just outside the Angels clubhouse.
