ANAHEIM -- Cesar Puello made his Major League debut during Wednesday afternoon's 5-1 win over the Orioles, after the club called up the 26-year-old outfielder from Triple-A Salt Lake. Lefty Jose Alvarez was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. 
It didn't take long for the outfielder to get involved, as Puello cracked his first Major League hit -- a run-scoring single -- in the bottom of the fourth inning vs. the Orioles. He then quickly made noise on the basepaths, stealing both second and third base in the frame. 

Manager Mike Scioscia is high on Puello's power and what he's done in the Minors, and the Halos decided it was a good time to give him a chance with the big league club. Puello started the season in the Rangers' organization playing for Triple-A Round Rock, where he posted a .247 average, but the team decided to release Puello, and he signed with the Angels as a Minor League free agent.
Puello has played 44 games for Salt Lake and was batting .397 with seven homers, 34 RBIs and 18 doubles for the Bees.
"He's definitely come into his own [in Salt Lake]," Scioscia said. "He's got some big power and plays the game very hard. We're excited for him to get out there and swing the bat."
Worth noting
• Scioscia said Andrew Heaney feels "phenomenal," and the Angels will get a decision on Wednesday on what his next step is. Heaney has been rehabbing from Tommy John surgery he underwent in 2016.
