Angels exercise 2016 option on General Manager Jerry Dipoto

General Manager will return for fifth season

The Angels today announced that the Club has exercised the 2016 option on General Manager Jerry Dipoto's contract. Today's announcement was made by Club President John Carpino.

"Jerry and his Staff have continued to demonstrate strong leadership skills throughout our organization," said Carpino. "We are proud of Jerry's body of work as evidenced by last year's Club which won 98 games. We believe exercising Jerry's option through 2016 is a good business and baseball decision."

2016 will mark Dipoto's fifth season as General Manager of the Halos. The former Major League pitcher was initially introduced as the 11th GM in franchise history on Oct. 29, 2011. During his four-year run as general manager of the Halos, Dipoto has signed or acquired several marquee players including Albert Pujols, C.J. Wilson, Huston Street, David Freese and Joe Smith, among others. In 2014, Dipoto saw the Angels post a Major-League best 98 wins en route to winning the club's first American League West title since 2009. On the field since the start of the 2012 season, the Angels have posted a 295-251 (.540) record, produced seven All-Stars and one MVP.
