HONORS FOR MIKE TROUT
Prior to the game on Saturday, April 8th, Angels will honor Mike Trout in an on-field pregame ceremony as recipient of the 2016 American League Most Valuable Player award and Silver Slugger award. This marks Trout's second A.L. MVP and second of last three seasons. He becomes the first Angel to win the award multiple times. Trout also becomes just the 27th player to win multiple MVP awards and, at 25 years and 56 days old at the end of the season, is third youngest player to ever win the award multiple times. After finishing in top 2 of MVP voting each of his first five full seasons, Trout joins Barry Bonds (1999-04) as only players to ever accomplish feat in five-or-more consecutive seasons.
Trout was tabbed a Louisville Silver Slugger in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. Is first player in A.L. history to win award in each of first five full big league seasons and just second Major leaguer to accomplish feat (Mike Piazza, won award in each of first 10 full seasons). Also became youngest player to win award five times and only player in franchise history to capture award five times.
