Angels' Marte, Soto injured; X-rays negative

First baseman hit on shoulder by pitch, catcher struck on backswing

CLEVELAND -- Angels first baseman exited Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Indians before the bottom of the second inning after getting hit by a pitch in the top of the frame.
Marte led off the second by getting drilled in the left shoulder on a pitch from Cleveland starter . The Halos did not use a pinch-runner, but pulled him to begin the home half of the inning.
After the game, Angels manager Mike Scioscia said that the X-rays for Marte came back negative, but he was sore.
replaced Marte at first base, moving over from left field. took Marte's spot in the lineup as the cleanup hitter and played left field. Entering Sunday, Marte was hitting .245 with eight homers and 24 RBIs.
Halos catcher also left the game after getting injured in the sixth.

"He got hit on a backswing when [Francisco] Lindor popped up to third base to end the sixth," Scioscia said. "He's day to day. The X-rays came back negative on both of those guys."
