Calhoun to undergo surgery for core muscle injury

Outfielder expected to be ready for Spring Training 2017

The Angels announced outfielder will undergo surgery Tuesday for a bilateral core muscle injury. Dr. William Myers will perform the surgery in Philadelphia.
The estimated recovery time is six to eight weeks. Calhoun will begin his normal offseason training regime when he is back to full strength.
Calhoun hit .271 with 18 home runs and 75 RBIs in 157 games for the Angels in 2016. The 28-year-old set single-season career highs for doubles (35) and walks (67).
Calhoun is expected to be ready for the start of Spring Training in 2017.
