What to know about the Angels-Mariners game:
In an American League West, where four of five clubs have records above .500, the Mariners and defending World Series champion Astros remain neck-and-neck atop the division, with the Angels within striking distance as the season's midway point nears.

Angels right-hander enters today's start against Seattle with a 3.26 ERA in 13 starts in 2018, after being limited to just six starts in each of the previous two seasons because of injury. In his only outing vs. the Mariners this season -- on May 4 at Safeco Field -- Richards tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings, yielding four hits while walking one and striking out eight.

Richards' counterpart will be 26-year-old left-hander , who has faced Los Angeles three times in his young career. Over 14 1/3 innings across those three starts, he has a 4.40 ERA (seven earned runs). Following a rough start to this season, Gonzales has been fantastic over his last five starts, posting a 0.81 ERA (three earned runs in 33 1/3 innings) with opponents batting .183 against him in that span.
