LOS ANGELES -- Angels center fielder Mike Trout, who missed his second straight exhibition game Friday because of a stomach virus, said he's feeling better and plans to return Saturday against the Dodgers at Angel Stadium. The Angels beat the Dodgers, 5-1.
Trout also said he expects to play Opening Day against the Cubs on Monday in Anaheim.
"I'm better now," Trout said Friday from the visiting dugout at Dodger Stadium. "Last couple days I've been a little shaky, just body's been aching, not feeling so well. ... Trying to get my appetite back, haven't ate much the last couple days, just had to come out here and get my body moving."
Trout stretched and took batting practice on the field with the team before Friday's game.
"I'll actually be playing tomorrow," Trout said. "I'm going to take some BP and see how my body feels. I just wanted to get out of the house. I was laid up for the last two to three days. It's just good to be out here with the guys and hopefully don't get them sick."
Worth noting
• Jered Weaver (neck stiffness) threw a bullpen session at Dodger Stadium on Friday. Angels manager Mike Scioscia said the club is still evaluating the next step for Weaver as he tries to get ready for the regular season.
"He felt a little stronger today coming out of the last outing, which is a good sign," Scioscia said. "We're going to just see where everything lines up."
• Tyler Skaggs is slated to pitch in Saturday's game, Scioscia said. The left-hander was scratched from his last outing Tuesday because of an illness. Skaggs, working his way back from Tommy John surgery, is likely to start the season on the disabled list.
