Angels move Wilson's start up to Saturday
Left-hander had been set to go Sunday; will likely also start Game 2 of ALDS
SEATTLE -- C.J. Wilson's final regular-season start has been moved from Sunday to Saturday, an indication that the 33-year-old left-hander will be the Angels' Game 2 starter for the American League Division Series.
Wilson, whose ERA jumped to 4.61 after he gave up four runs in two-thirds of an inning against the A's on Monday, would be taking his final turn on the standard four days of rest. That would put him on five days of rest for Game 2 on Oct. 3.
Jered Weaver, the Angels' starter for Friday's series opener against the Mariners, is also lined up on five days of rest to pitch Game 1 of the ALDS. Matt Shoemaker, who could take the ball in Game 3, is still recovering from a strained left oblique. The Angels also have Hector Santiago available. He pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings on Wednesday to finish his season with a 3.81 ERA.
