ANAHEIM -- Angels first-round Draft pick Jo Adell took some time to give back to his hometown of Louisville on Sunday, hosting a turkey drive to provide Thanksgiving dinners to families in need.
Adell, who is rated the Angels' No. 1 prospect by MLBPipeline.com, partnered with Jefferson County Public Schools and the Louisville Metro Police Department for the event. It was held at Newburg Middle School, where his mother, Nicole, is the principal.
"Louisville is home for me," Adell said in a televised interview with WHAS-11. "I've lived here for 10 years. Everybody here is family. That's how I treat it.
"Being a pro athlete, you overlook some of the little things. Some people don't have the fortunes to have a meal. You have to really lock it in. If you can help your city, where you came from, you have to do those things. Coming back for this drive was a no-brainer for me."

Adell has remained active in his community since being selected 10th overall by the Angels in the 2017 Draft in June and receiving a $4,376,800 signing bonus.
In September, the 18-year-old outfielder returned to his alma mater, Ballard High School, to host a two-day baseball camp for local kids.

Adell is coming off a successful debut season as a professional, batting .325/.376/.532 with five home runs, 30 RBIs and eight stolen bases in 49 games between two Rookie levels.
