ANAHEIM, CA - The Angels selected eight players during rounds 3-10 today in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, as announced by Director, Scouting Ric Wilson. The Halos draft as it currently stands features four prep and six collegiate draftees. The draft will conclude tomorrow (June 11) with rounds 11-40. The Angels will have pick No. 20 in each remaining round.
 
With their third round pick (96th overall), the Angels selected SS Nolan (Nonie) Williams from Turner HS in Kansas City, KS. Standing 6-foot-1, Williams earned 2016 Rawlings-Perfect Game Second Team All-America honors. Nonie, 18, was the No. 4 ranked player in the Perfect Game 2017 ranking, but chose to re-classify into the 2016 class, and is currently committed to LSU.
 
The Angels' fourth round pick (126th overall) was RHS Christopher Rodriguez, from Monsignor Edward Pace HS from Miami Gardens, FL..The Jacksonville Univesity commit stands at 6-foot-1, 175 lbs.
 
In the fifth round (156th overall) the Angels took SS Connor Justus from Georgia Tech. The junior garnered Third-Team All-ACC honors, finishing the season with a career-best .324 average. Justus finished second on the team with 80 hits, and tallied six home runs and 37 RBI.
 
With their sixth round selection (186th overall), the Angels picked RHS Cole Duensing. The righty was a 2016 Rawlings-Perfect Game Central Region All-America High School Senior 2nd Team.
 
In the seventh round (216th overall) the Halos took 2B Jordan Zimmerman from Michigan State. Zimmerman hit .374 in 2016 and added 37 RBI for the Spartans this season.
 
CF Troy Montgomery was selected in round eight (246th overall) out of Ohio State. The draft-eligible junior was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament team.
 
The Angels rounded out the day with a pair of Texas A&M battery mates in ninth round pick (276th overall) C Michael Barash and RHS Andrew Vinson in the 10th round (306 Overall).
