Garcia continues torrid stretch for GreenJackets
Giants' No. 14 prospect cracks 2 homers and drives in 4 runs, has gone 14-for-26 in his past 6 games
If you thought Aramis Garcia was finished hitting home runs, you were wrong.
The catcher swatted dingers in consecutive games on Thursday and Friday before going 0-for-4 on Saturday and 2-for-4 with two singles on Sunday. But he again showed off his power with a game to remember on Tuesday.
San Francisco's No. 14 prospect finished 4-for-5 with two homers and four RBIs in Class A Augusta's narrow 7-6 loss to Greenville, running his line from the past six games to 14-for-26 (.538) with four home runs and 13 RBIs.
Garcia's first multi-homer game in the Minors couldn't stop a strong performance from Red Sox No. 1 prospect (No. 6 overall) Yoan Moncada, who finished 2-for-5 with a two-run round-tripper in the second inning that knocked in the first two runs in the game. Moncada now has three home runs on the season after homering in consecutive games.
Giants No. 27 prospect Samuel Coonrod provided a decent performance on the mound, allowing one earned run (plus two unearned) and striking out five in six innings of work. The right-hander lowered his ERA to 2.69 and has 78 strikeouts in 74 1/3 innings this year.
The GreenJackets rallied to score three runs in the final two innings, but it wasn't enough to top Greenville. Garcia -- whom San Francisco drafted in the second round of the 2014 Draft -- is hitting .268/.339/.433 with 12 homers and 46 RBIs on the year.
