DENVER -- Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado found his Spring Training swing Wednesday night.
In a 10-6 win over the Giants, Arenado went 4-for-5 with two homers and a career-high seven RBIs. He entered the game batting .222 with two home runs and five RBIs, but raised his average to .313 with one big game. The slow start came after he had led all Major Leaguers with a .542 spring batting average.
Needing a triple in his final at-bat in the eighth inning to complete the cycle, Arenado instead crushed a three-run homer off left-handed Giants reliever Josh Osich. He also doubled, giving him three of the Rockies' club-record-tying 12 extra-base hits.

"It's never fun to scuffle or not produce for your team," Arenado said. "But I was working hard - keep hitting, keep working on what I've got to do to get better. Obviously, today was a great day. I'm very thankful for that.
"I had some opportunities with guys on base, thanks to [Trevor] Story, 'CarGo' [Carlos Gonzalez] and Charlie [Blackmon]. They all had quality at-bats."
Arenado went 1-for-4 with an RBI bloop single in Tuesday night's 7-2 loss to the Giants against right-hander Jeff Samardzija, who made most of the order look as they're slumping. But Rockies manager Walt Weiss noted before Wednesday's game that he saw "a lot of good passes at the ball" during Arenado's 2-for--4 performance Sunday against the Padres.
Wednesday night confirmed what Weiss thought.
"It was a matter of time," Weiss said. "He's a great player. … It doesn't surprise me."
