Arencibia Invites Cancer Survivor to Throw Out First Pitch
It is a special treat for an MLB player to be honored with his own Bobblehead Day. And to mark the occasion it is important for players to share it with people they care about. Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia knows this, and wanted to make it also memorable for leg amputee and bone cancer survivor Jess Dunn, inviting her on Twitter to throw out the honorary first pitch on his giveaway day. Dunn replied, like anyone would, "Heck yes!"

Dunn had been in contact with Arencibia before, originally meeting him on October 3, 2012, a few days before she had major surgery. The two stayed in contact frequently. Arencibia has been proud of every battle she has faced. He was the first to congratulate her in April when she officially defeated cancer and did not hesitate to invite Jess to join him on the field before batting practice this past Opening Day.

At the end of the day, J.P. knows that baseball is just a game and that there are much more important things in life. He is doing us all a great service by celebrating what truly matters. Thank you, J.P., for showing us that and congrats again to Jess Dunn on her victorious battle!
