Greinke taking it slow as camp starts

Lovullo: No reason to rush with extra week in Spring Training

February 15th, 2017

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- D-backs ace Zack Greinke kind of threw a bullpen session Tuesday.
The right-hander stood on the mound, held a ball in his hand and went through his motion without releasing the ball.
"Zack just wanted to get on the rubber, feel the rubber, get online and feel some balance points," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said.
Lovullo said Monday the team was planning on "slow-playing" Greinke this spring. In other words, with the extra week that's been added to camp because of the World Baseball Classic, there is no reason for Greinke to hurry up and get ready.
Lovullo reiterated it again Tuesday -- that there are no health-related issues with Greinke, who was shut down a week early last season due to some shoulder stiffness.
