D-backs will open, close '16 season at home

Schedule released; NL West showdowns highlight September

PHOENIX -- Opening Day and the final day of the season at home, a visit by the Yankees and a trip out of the country highlight the tentative 2016 regular season schedule for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The D-backs will open the 19th season in franchise history on April 4, 2016, with a 6:40 p.m. MST game against the Rockies. After the three-game series with Colorado, the Cubs come to town for a four-game weekend set.

Tentative 2016 D-backs schedule

In Interleague Play the D-backs will square off against the American League East along with the AL West's Astros.

The Yankees, Astros, Rays and Blue Jays will visit Chase Field, while the D-backs will travel to Toronto, Houston, Boston and Baltimore for a total of 20 interleague games.

The Yankees series at Chase Field is scheduled for May 16-18, while the D-backs' two-game series in Toronto on June 21-22 will mark their first trip there since 2004.

Season tickets are available now, while individual-game tickets will go on sale at a later date.

Should the D-backs be in the thick of the NL West pennant race, the month of September will be an interesting one. Twenty-four of Arizona's final 31 games come against division opponents.

The D-backs wrap up the season with a three-game series against the Padres on Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at Chase Field. It is the 13th time in franchise history they have finished a season at home.
