A’s Agree to Terms with Three from 2012 First-Year Player Draft

The Oakland A’s agreed to terms with three more players from the 2012 First-Year Player draft including first baseman Max Muncy (5th round, Baylor), right-handed pitcher Dakota Bacus (9th, Indiana State) and outfielder Ryan Mathews (27th, North Carolina State).  The A’s have now signed or agreed to terms with 26 of their 43 picks, including nine of the first 13.

Muncy was an All-Big 12 Selection and batted .322 with seven home runs and 56 RBI in 66 games for the Bears.  He also earned Big 12 honors in 2011 and was a Freshman All-America selection in 2010 after setting Baylor freshman records with 11 home runs and 53 RBI.  Bacus was a First Team All Missouri Valley Conference selection this year after going 7-4 with a 2.70 ERA.  Mathews batted .327 with 17 home runs and 62 RBI in 59 games.

The deadline for signing drafted players is July 13.
